A years old man with iron deficiency anemia had been followed up at the Department of Pediatrics since the age of 5-years old.
The authors report on two cases of association of a cavernous angioma with a ganglioglioma and an oligodendroglioma respectively. Planes of cleavage with surrounding neurovascular structures were not regarded as safe, and none was resected, given the anticipated surgical bleeding. Case 1 A year-old girl was admitted in our department for progressive bilateral facial palsy.
After revision of these two cases it was evidenced that the vascular part assumed a cavernous-angioma like component, while the gliomatous caverboso were a pyloid type ganglioglioma in one case and an oligodendroglioma in other cavsrnoso.
In our first case the histological diagnosis was ganglioglioma with glial component of pyloid type and associated vascular component of angiomatous type, while in our second case histological examination showed a glial component of oligodendroglioma with polymorphous aspects; cavernoo both cases the vascular component was observed in some regions of the vavernoso mass.
Cavernous angioma of the cavernous sinus: imaging findings
Genetic researchers are still working on determining the cause of the illness and the mechanism behind blood vessel formation. Discussion We report the case of a young patient with iron deficiency anemia of unknown etiology since childhood. The advent of magnetic resonance imaging MRI raised new diagnostic perspectives for this condition as we report in the study.
Genetic studies show that specific gene mutations or deletions are causes for the disease. OncologyHematologyCardiology. Because of the high mortality when attempting to remove these lesions, radiologists should alert surgeons for this possibility.
Management of associated primari cerebral neoplasms and vascular malformations. Additionally, biopsies can be obtained from tumor tissue for examination under a microscope. This article needs additional citations for verification.
cagernoso CT images showed fairly well-circumscribed para-sellar masses, slightly to moderately hyperdense in non-enhanced scans, intensely and almost uniformly enhancing after infusion of intravascular iodinated contrast media Figs 4 and 5.

Familial cerebral cavernous malformations are known to occur. A year-old men was admitted in our department for bifrontal headaches for six months. Because of this malformation, blood flow through the cavities, or caverns, is slow. In all patients, MRI revealed well-delimited right para-sellar lesions, uniformly isointense in T1-weighted images and hyperintense in T2- T2- and FLAIR-weighted images, brightly enhancing after intra-vascular infusion of gadolinium.
In the treatment of a brain cavernous hemangioma, neurosurgery is usually the treatment chosen. Although, Rubinstein 15 accepted the term angioglioma; in a more recent publication 16 he suggested the restriction of cavernso term angiogliomas to denote a mixed tumor composed of an hemangioblastoma and astrocitoma.

Discussion From a consecutive series of low-grade gliomas surgically treated in our department from towe found 2 cases with histological diagnosis of “Cerebral Angioglioma”.
The patient underwent upper and lower GI endoscopy, small bowel barium follow-through and Meckel’s diverticulum scintigraphy, which were all negative. There are several known causes for cavernous cavernosk, but some cases are still unknown.
It is the leakage of blood, known as a hemorrhage from these vessels that causes a variety of symptoms known to be associated with this disease. Differential diagnosis with para-sellar meningiomas and schwannomas can be difficult.
It has been suggested that growth factors and hormonal influences contribute to antioma abnormal cell proliferation.
The most common clinical presentation is obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, either occult or visible 2,3although obstruction, intussusception, and perforation may occur. Arteriovenous malformation and oligodendroglioma. Based on our experience and on the literature review, we imply that the presence of rare cases of any kind of AVM associated with a glioma abgioma be interpreted as a truly compound tumor, less likely to be an exceptional coincidence.
Radiotherapy may be a useful complement as the primary therapy or as a preoperative adjuvant 2, 4. The most frequent location of gastrointestinal cavernous hemangiomas is the small cavernosl mainly jejunumfollowed by the colon, especially the rectosigmoid.
Microscopically, they are a honeycomb of vascular spaces which lack muscular and elastic components, lined by a single endothelial layer, without intervening neuronal tissue 5,6. Clin Neuropathol ; 9: Cavernoeo pattern after gadolinium infusion in most cases is intense and homogeneous. Exacerbation of symptoms in pregnant women have been reported, improving after delivery 2,3,9.
Solitary hemangioma of the small cavernosp disclosed by wireless capsule endoscopy. In all cases, internal carotid artery ICA was encircled by the lesions, without any significant stenosis Figs 12 and 3. Hemangiomas are benign congenital vascular lesions that may appear isolated or as a part of syndromes i.
